I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m going to heave a big sigh of relief. Who knows what 2021 will bring, (translated, twenty twenty WON, so there’s that) but I’m crossing my fingers for a better year.
We had a nice Christmas. I smoked a ham with a lovely glaze, made scalloped corn, au gratin potatoes, green beans, sweet and sour red cabbage, buttermilk rolls, pumpkin pie, and chocolate bourbon pecan pie.
I continue to gain weight at a steady pace! I’ve been on a never ending baking spree pretty much this entire year, and it’s got to stop. Yesterday I got in a twelve mile bike ride with a friend, and will walk this morning with another friend. Doesn’t seem to be outpacing the rate I’m stuffing my face though. Bleh.
I finished cutting out all the pieces for the alternate block I’m filling my Moda Blockheads quilt in with, and have fourteen of them sewn. Woohoo! Looks like I will finish this quilt after all!
There was a huge ham bone from the Christmas ham, too big for my eight quart pot even, so Jim is going to saw it in half today (thankfully we still have our meat saw) and I’m going to make a pot of ham and split pea soup.
I cooked up Cosmo’s weekly chicken and gravy yesterday, so I’ve put the chicken carcass in the pressure cooker to make stock already this morning.
I’m hoping for a little time to sew later today, I’d like to finish up the remaining eleven quilt blocks and get the setting triangles cut!
