I’m having a whole lot of fun playing around in the Cricut Design space. I know my way around the Silhouette Studio software fairly well, and will likely continue using it most of the time as it is a lot more advanced than Cricut’s Design Space, but I want to play with the other as well. Fortunately, The Silhouette software can save to .svg files, so I can continue using it and simply upload my design to Cricut Design Space.
I’m teaching myself how to design a greeting card, using the print and cut feature. I swiped one of the new Valentine avatars Facebook just added and thought I’d use one to make my mom a card. I have 4 more days to figure it out!
Here’s my progress so far. I’ve learned how to import an image, remove the background, flatten it to the “card” and make them both a “print then cut” item, and add a scoring line.
Fun!
I’d love to figure out how to cut out the edges around the card in some type of lacy pattern, but that’s probably more than I can figure out in a day or two.
By the way, is anyone else having as much fun with their Facebook avatar as I am? I absolutely love the darn things, they’re so cute!

I had an older Cricut which died. I bought a new one and geez, what a learning curve! I’m tempted to sell the thing–I think I’m too old to figure out how to use it!
Nah! Figuring stuff out is what keeps our brains intact!
