Buttons Added

I went out and mowed bright and early this morning in preparation for the three to four inches of rain predicted for tomorrow evening, and it’s a good thing I did because for the first time ever, I forgot to let the chickens out!

I picked green beans and started a batch of buttermilk rolls. We’re having hot dogs (on rolls) with fresh green beans and mac and cheese tonight.

I forgot about the chickens because I was intent on sewing the pearl buttons to the doll blouse this morning. It is now finished, except for maybe a button decoration at the neckline in lieu of a broach, but I haven’t made up my mind on that yet.

I’m over the moon on how well this turned out. I will definitely be making pantalettes, but can’t decide on if I should add a chemise or not. Yes, I should to have her dressed accurately, but it’s a lot of bulk under the blouse and I think may look bad.

Today I will be playing around with the skirt. I would also like to top the outfit with a jacket in ivory linen. I have several period outfits from the early 1900’s lined up and hope to sew them all, so I can choose which to display for the exhibit.

I’d really like to bake a pie today… but I need somewhere else to store all these calories!
