Dang. I broke the freaking riding mower again. I was desperately trying to get the grass cut before another endless bout of rain hit, and the drive belt either broke or came off. Either way, the darn thing was stuck out in the orchard. I got a heavy rope out of the shop and decided to haul it out with the Jeep. The ground is still pretty muddy and I got stuck. I put the Jeep in 4 wheel drive… can you believe in six years, that’s the first time I’ve ever used 4 wheel drive on it?
Got the mower to the edge of the orchard, but without someone steering it, I was afraid I’d take out the gate. It’s still sitting there while I think on how I can turn it around and get it out. That’s a plan for tomorrow morning. But meanwhile, I couldn’t get the Jeep back out of 4 wheel drive. I shifted easily into neutral, 4 wheel high and 4 wheel low, but wouldn’t go back into 2 wheel drive. I’m guessing it’s stiff because I never use it? Anyway, I backed up and drove forward a few times, and it finally slipped back into gear.
Then I went and called the tractor dealer to ask them to come get it and fix it. But I still have to get it onto the driveway before they come tomorrow after lunch. And I am getting new tires on the Jeep at 11, so I need to figure it out before then.
My days keep getting hosed up. The grass still isn’t done, I didn’t get a walk again, won’t have time tomorrow, and I still can’t find time to get back to the longarm. My pizza dough is still in the fridge.
On the bright side, I got the binding cut, pieced and pressed for the Moda Blockheads quilt, if I ever get it done!
Yep, I’m whining. Oh… did I mention the other stupid thing I did? I went to town and got a milkshake. Because I just couldn’t help myself.
