Moda Blockheads 2020 – Week Five

Week five’s block for the 2020 Moda Blockheads was released this morning. I went ahead and drew it in EQ8 so that I have the option to audition fabrics again, as well as preview it in the quilt.

This is a darling block, and I thought I’d probably make it. But then I placed it on the quilt worktable in EQ8 and like week four’s appliqué block (which I did not draw but I think I will go back and do it), I’m not sure it looks right with the other blocks.

So for now I’m going to hold off on this block. I can always substitute a block of my choice, or piece it later as more blocks are released and I feel like it blends into the quilt.

I fed my sourdough yesterday morning, made the dough for pizza last night and let it ferment, and will bake Jim pizza tonight. As for myself, I’ll be trying out Chaffle crust pizza (egg and cheese plus whatever you want, baked in a waffle iron).

It’s rainy and dismal today, and we’re about to float away. The chickens now have to cross a moat to get into their coop! I think I’ll just continue working on my sashing blocks for the Churn Dash quilt today.

Did you see Joanna’s (Fig Tree Quilts) LOVE block on her blog this morning? I like it much better with the block letters rather than the improv alphabet.

I saw it on Wednesday, and had drawn it up in EQ then. I prefer the original myself, but I don’t think I’ll use either.
