Can I just say “whew”! Those sleeves! I spent more time doing the gathers than the entire jacket so far. Oh! The jacket pattern I’m working off of is “Shibuya Jacket” by Liberty Jane. It’s a steam punk looking thing, so it was a bit of a stretch to picture it how I would like it to look. It might look utterly wrong. I can’t tell just yet.
I don’t know if I have enough of it sewn together you get an image in your mind or not.
The sleeves are three sections. There is the cuff, a middle section, and then the shoulder section, which is gathered on both upper and lower portions.
I’ve top stitched each section.
The back is fairly simple, and I used 3 buttons on a sash, versus a belt.
I still don’t know if it will look right over the dress or not, and I can’t tell until it’s finished. From this point on, I’ll be deviating from the pattern construction as it’s only partially lined and I need it for accuracy, to be fully lined. Which is where I wondered if I’d be out of my depth.
I’m working on the sleeves for the lining now, and I’m hoping I get it right. I’m also crossing my fingers that the lining won’t make the entire jacket too bulky and too tight… which it may.
The linen has surprisingly been a joy to sew on. I was expecting it to be awful, distorting, stretch, fraying… I’ve had none of that. I did starch it lightly with Mary Ellen’s Best Press prior to cutting it out.
Ideas are starting to come together in my head for the next dress, but I also want to work on the hat for this outfit. My brain is getting all twisted up because there’s too many ideas competing for attention. LOL

Oh, I love it!! Even is you decide it doesn’t work for this outfit, you’ll still be able to use it for another ensemble. Gorgeous!!
Thank you Chris. I really hope it works but if not like you said there’s always another outfit.
